IELTS Speaking Exam Preparation

Service Description

Following an informal exam style assessment, lessons will be planned specifically for you and homework provided to help you to prepare for discussions and exam practice in subsequent lessons. This way, you will have the opportunity to listen to material and work on vocabulary in your own time before being able to actively practise it the following lesson with me. We can look at a wide variety of topics to generate ideas and to work on useful vocabulary, including more colloquial and idiomatic expressions, to enable you to discuss the varied themes that IELTS requires. We will look at planning strategies and how to provide extended answers to the examiner. Depending on your time line, any aspects of grammar and/or pronunciation that you might need to review can also be covered. Each IELTS speaking task you do will be assessed using the IELTS criteria to give you an idea of your band score; detailed feedback will also be provided, so you know what you need to work on in order to improve that score. Let us be realistic though- contacting me two weeks before an exam and expecting a Band 7 when you are a 5 is not going to happen! Each one hour class is 55 minutes long and usually held in Google Meet, using Google Docs as our working document. Once you book a lesson, I will send you a Google Docs link in which you will find the meeting link. I will then meet you there at your booked time. Other platforms can, of course, be used upon request.
